This year we continued with doing felt balls.
Inbetween the children made beautiful lucky stones
that were turned into a brooch as a mothers day gift.
A huge success with the boys and girls and of course
the proud mothers.

After a long break mirtilio blog is back on track.
With a lot of fun last year I started a little project in the kindergarden class of my son with experiencing wet felting.
What a fun, the kids just love it. Thankfully I had a lot of help from the teachers as the age of the kids is with 3 to 6 years still quiet small and as I am no native Portuguese speaker I was very grateful with the support.
Mainly we started with doing felt balls and I was amazed about the results of the little hands.
Here is the first project from last year, Mr frog

2012 has been a year filled with extreme experiences and unfortunately a lot really really sad ones, which at the moment almost takes my breath.
In October I lost my father and with all the pain I could also feel a lot of positive things, a lot of words became a new meaning or better I could finally understand their meaning, such as gratefulness, happiness, not understanding, helplessness, hope, not being able to rationalize, reality ?.........
I know for many people 2012 has been a lot of heavy challenges and I wish to everyone that 2013 will bring a lot of good things for compensation, for hope, for continuity...

These three polar bears have a very special meaning to me as they were made during a very difficult time, saying good bye to my father from far away. He was so closely connected to all about nature, forrest, plants and flowers, and especially animals. He was a very good painter and did beautiful animal drawings that inspired me in childhood to start to do drawing as well.

My first market 'for real' was a great success. Thank you very much to the wonderful organisation team Sonia Teixeira and Margarida Cavaleiro from Moncarapacho.
I would like to pass on the nice compliments I got for my work to this unique material that lovely sheep provide to us. Especially in a lot of children eyes I could see the magic of this wool.
With the time I would like to share the enormous variety of use that this material can bring, really stunning what is possible to create with the simple raw hair of sheep.
For me this passion runs in the family at least since my grandmother who is about to become 98 soon. She was telling me a few weeks ago that during war times they had two sheep and did a lot of things with their wool, from turning it to yarn up to fillings for the blankets.....was just a natural part of life.
My mother would always become quiet as a baby once she would be wrapped in wool and this went on to me. Nothing else warms you up so good like pure wool.
Unfortunately I couldn't get enough new production together to participate in the next market at Gecko´s Garden Saturday 8. of Dec. in the afternoon and Sunday 9th of Dec. from 10 to 15.00, N 125 Alfandanga
